One Day Events

Apart from Camp, taking part in one day events is one of the other highlights of the Summer for many members.

There may seem to be a lot of information below and your first one day event can be quite daunting, but there is always advice and help from other members and committee members, so don’t be afraid to ask! Before long you will be a seasoned campaigner!! Your pony will need to be fit to take part in these.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL EVENTS

Shillelagh members wishing to enter a one day event must contact Naomi Stapleton, Event Secretary on 0404-46699 or 087-2142481.

You cannot enter these directly as each entry form must be signed by the D.C.

For heights of fences and dressage tests see Guide to Competitions 2009

The following are the dressage tests to be used for all Horse Trials.

Members - British Dressage Test 24 (novice) 2002
Senior Associate A - British Dressage Test 24 (novice) 2002

Senior Associate B - British Dressage Test 28 (novice) 2008
Intermediate - British Dressage Test 28 (novice) 2008

Juniors - British Dressage Test 7 (preliminary) 2002

Under 12 - Pre Novice IPC Dressage Test 2008 - View/print

All branch entries must be made through Naomi and you cannot enter directly.

Entries must be with Naomi at least 10 days before each event and can be prepaid.

The Pony’s name you use to enter must be the same as his passport (not his stable name).

DRESSAGE TIMES WILL BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE NOTICEBOARD A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT.

HORSE AND PONIES MUST BE 5 YEARS OLD AND OVER TO COMPETE

HORSE PASSPORTS WILL BE CHECKED SO BRING YOURS ALONG

All events have strict tack inspection for all three phases so it is very important you are familiar with the current Tack Sheets for Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country. These are available on www.irishponyclub.ie

Don’t forget to bring the following:
a number bib, a medical armband with photo and membership card inserted, a stock (self tying), long sleeves. Don’t forget your picnic and lots of water for your pony! (To drink afterwards and to wash down).

Red Mills Qualifiers

To be eligible to take part in the Red Mills one day event qualifiers
you must have passed your C Test.

To qualify for the Horse Trials Championships which take place in August, you must take part in and complete (all three phases) at a minimum of two qualifiers. One with a clear round cross country and one with a maximum of 20 penalties (equal to one stop) cross country. This criteria is for Juniors, Intermediates, Members and Associates.

Under 12 and Novice Events

The General Information above applies to these events also and again you must enter through Naomi.

The Under 12 and Novice competitions are not qualifiers for any championships. It is recommended that competitors in Under 12 competitions should have their D+ test.

Tack Inspections

There will be a strict tack inspection at every event. Make sure you know what is on the Tack Sheets so you are not upset on the day. You should allow time for inspection as there are three different tack inspections at a one day event, one for each phase, dressage, show jumping and cross country. There is quite a difference in the tack sheets for dressage and cross country, so do study them.
Tack Inspectors are not allowed to make exceptions so please make their difficult job as easy as possible by presenting correctly. Remember rules regarding tack etc. are for the safety or horse and rider which is of paramount importance in the Irish Pony Club.
